Outdoor lighting can make a huge difference in the way your yard looks and functions at night. When you’ve got great lighting, you can continue to spend time in your yard even when the stars come out!

How will you know what lighting is right for you? Chances are you will use some kind of combination of lights to achieve the affect you want. Here are a few common choices:

From the Ground Up. In-ground lights are some of the most elegant you can choose. They are actually part of your structure or pathway and provide light to the area without being in the way.

Light the Way. An extremely common lighting choice are small lights that stick into the ground and light a sidewalk, driveway, or path in a yard. These lights are a quick, simple, effective way to add light into your yard and make it a less frightening place to walk no matter how dark it becomes.

Rustic Charm. Old-fashioned lanterns can add a charming flare to your deck, and you can find them for any types of light: candles, flameless candles, and light bulbs included. Put a few of these around your deck and everyone will want to hang around a little longer to chat.

Standing Tall. New outdoor floor lamps are created to be weather-resistant and fit your outside space just like floor lamps in your home do! Imagine setting these in the corners of your deck and relaxing in a patio chair with a good book—unexpected and yet classic!
